Abstraction Through Reflection

Abstractions, especially using reflection, offer endless possibilities to discover an 'alternative' Venice.  They allow for a unique perspective on a heavily-photographed city, especially when combined with the interplay or light and shadow. Getting down low to capture images bouncing off glass, metal or centuries-old polished marble can often create the unexpected.  Water surfaces offer a glimpse into an inverted world, and peering into the canals, allows you to look up and down simultaneously.  Using a camera in manual mode to look 'through' reflections creates complex layers, or simply armed with mobile phone to catch images along their reflective planes or at unusual angles, the search for abstraction is a worthy pursuit of something original.
